I’m getting a lot of input lag.

The latest update of Unity, the game engine we use, causes input lag with Vulkan at fullscreen on some some machines. If you are experiencing these issues, you can try to:

  1. Turn off Vsync in Video Settings in game.
  2. Play in windowed mode

How Do I Play Multiplayer?

  1. Complete the tutorial.
  2. Purchase and equip a ladder.
  3. Start a multiplayer game by clicking "multiplayer" at the bottom of the map screen, then "create crew". Make it public, unlisted, or private.
  4. Pick a level and a loadout, and send the join code in the upper right to your friend.
  5. Your friends can enter that code via multiplayer > Join crew (in the "join code" field)
If you specified a password, have your friends enter that below the join code

I can’t join my friend’s match!

  1. If you are behind double router (your ISP modem and another home router). Please try to either connect to your ISP modem directly, or set your home router into bridge mode (see https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/6240987).
  2. Ensure Embr is allowed by your computer’s firewall. If you’re using Windows Defender, open the Windows menu / Windows Administrative Tools / Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security. In “Inbound Rules,” please make sure “Embr” is Allowed.
  3. Turn off any antivirus you have to see if that solves the problem.
  4. Set up your router for port forwarding, add a rule where UDP port 5055 traffic would be forwarded to your own computer. You may need to find out how to do so for your router.
  5. Please make sure outgoing UDP traffic to port 1234 and 5055 is unblocked.
  6. When you open Match List, hosts that you may have problems connecting to would have a warning icon.
  7. Restart your router: Unplug the router and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Then, plug it back in and connect to the internet to check if this solved the problem.
  8. Restart Steam. Sometimes that’s all that is required!
  9. Make sure the game has downloaded properly. Right-click on the game in your game library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, and click Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
  10. Try opting out of Steam Beta.
  11. Disable or uninstall Hamachi or any VPN software that you have.
  12. Disable your antivirus software.

How and where are save files stored?

Save files are stored separately for each Steam account. As long as you both use separate Steam accounts, your save files will be separate.

Save data is saved in the windows registry at "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Muse Games\FireProject".
Editing the registry is for advanced users only, and can cause system instability. Attempt at your own risk.

Embr is not what I’m looking for, how do I get a refund?

We don’t process people’s purchases directly, and we rely on Steam for that. For refunds and other transaction related issues, if you can go to: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithPurchase

You should be able to get Steam’s help or get a refund. Thanks very much!

I heard there are exclusive items, how do I get them?

Join the Embr Respondrs Steam group to get access to exclusive items!

You can find the group here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/EmbrRespondrs

Once you’ve joined the group, watch for announcements when the items are available!

Embr uses your Steam display name. Change your name through Steam to change it in-game:

      2. Enter your desired name in the “Profile Name” field
      3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green “save changes” button

Your new name will appear in Embr!

My friend just got me a copy of the game, and I want to jump in and play right away, can I skip the tutorial?

The tutorial is short, and we do want you to spend a few minutes to get your Respondr certification. We currently do require you to play through the tutorial. This way, you’d be able to deal with electricity, open safes, drop clients on trampolines from up high, vent gases, and learn to use the starter tools. It’ll help you and your friends make more money on your missions, which is what we are all about - to help you make money.

What does “Play Embr (Vulkan)” mean?

Vulkan is a graphics API that works slightly differently to the default graphics API that Embr uses (DX11). As a result, performance and stability may be slightly different. While we recommend most players to play with our default option, if you experience some graphics issues, you may try to play with Vulkan instead.

I can’t hit the Sign In button

  1. Make sure Steam is running on your computer, and the current signed-in Steam user has access to Embr. Restart Steam can sometimes be helpful.
  2. Disable your antivirus software and then launch the game again.
  3. Run Steam and Embr as admin.
  4. If it still doesn’t work, please send your player log to feedback@musegames.com

I don’t want to play as this old person? How do I change my character?

In the main menu, you can select profile, and change photo to switch your character. If you’re in a lobby currently, your character won’t update immediately.
